About Us
Our Heritage
Our experience comes from almost 2 decades in industry. While focus for Data Protection remains fundamentally on the privacy of the individual, this against a technological landscape that is constantly evolving means nothing in the world of Data Protection stays the same for long. Over the years our experience has grown along side these evolving issues. Having advised both global and indigenous organisations, we have experience of looking at Data Protection in the context of a global market.
Our Mission
We provide the highest quality Data Protection consultancy services to our clients. We help clients enhance their reputation with their customers, members, employees and peers. We provide support on the basis of what is best for our clients and the requirements of their organisation, while assisting them in their compliance with their Data Protection obligations.
Our Name
A barbican was a medieval defensive structure controlling access to a gateway. They were fortified outposts or gateways, typically forming the outer defence to a fortified city or castle.
Usually barbicans were situated outside the main line of defences and connected to the city walls with a walled road called the neck. With improvements in artillery in the 15th century, barbicans lost their importance. Few barbicans were built in or after the 16th century.
An excellent example of a surviving barbican can be found at the Rock of Dunamaise, close to us here in Portlaoise.
